“Hormonal imbalance is not caused by stress alone. Stress is just the middle link. The true root? A rejection of your femininity. Of rest. Of slowness. Of softness. Of receptivity.”

I came across a frustrated comment from a woman on Reddit that said:
“I wake up every hour or two throughout the night even after taking multiple heavy-duty sleep supplements and meds. And they’re trying to tell me that I just have to not worry about it and I’ll sleep!? Same with hot flashes — they’re a result of my body’s thermostat being out of whack due to fluctuating hormone levels, not my mindset. You can’t just sit there and think ‘I’m fine’ and expect it to go away. How do these ‘experts’ even believe this?
They say to limit stress and your symptoms won’t be as severe, but that hasn’t been true for me. I don’t have a job or kids. I do yoga, cook healthy meals, and live a peaceful life… yet my symptoms are still insane.”
It’s heartbreaking to witness so many women feel betrayed by their bodies — and skeptical of emotional or spiritual work as a solution. But let’s unpack this with compassion and clarity.
If you rely on heavy-duty medications to sleep, you cannot claim to be living a “healthy” lifestyle. Pharmaceuticals — by their nature — are synthetic interventions. They may help manage a symptom temporarily, but they also override your body’s wisdom, disrupt hormonal signaling, and burden your liver and nervous system. Over time, this accelerates aging and disconnection from your natural rhythms.
So no — your body cannot feel vibrant under chemical sedation. That’s not judgment. It’s physiology.
The belief that every person must sleep 8 hours is outdated. If you’re eating lighter, mostly plant-based meals and living a spiritually-centered life, your body may naturally require less sleep.
Ancient yogis and spiritual teachers — Sadhguru included — report thriving on 3–4 hours of sleep. Why? Because when your system is clean, your energy isn’t wasted digesting heaviness — physically or emotionally.
Moreover, a growing body of evidence from both science and history suggests that the eight-hour sleep may be unnatural. Waking up in the early hours to have a second sleep was considered normal. In Spirituality, it’s well known that when the soul returns from its adventures in the astral plane at around 3 am, it usually wakes us up.
The idea that we must sleep in a consolidated block could be damaging, if it makes people who wake up at night anxious, as this anxiety can itself prohibit sleeps and is likely to seep into waking life too.
If you sleep 5 hours and wake up clear, energized, and purposeful, there is nothing “wrong” with you.
You might be “doing yoga” and “relaxing” on the surface, but…
· Are you scrolling or watching screens before bed?
· Are you watching distressing news, intense movies, or engaging in emotional conflict?
· Is your environment actually calm — or just appears calm while your inner world simmers with unresolved tension?
Your body can’t be fooled. Nervous system safety is not about aesthetics — it’s about emotional truth.
No, mindset is not about thinking “I’m fine” and pretending symptoms don’t exist. That’s toxic positivity.
True mindset is the embodiment of emotional alignment, energetic integrity, and radical self-awareness.
It’s about:
· Releasing shame, guilt, resentment, and unworthiness
· Healing the inner child and redefining your feminine essence
· Living from a place of love, purpose, and spiritual connection
· Cultivating relationships that nourish you
· Making peace with your parents, past partners, and your own pain
“I don’t have a job or kids. No stress.”
Let’s be real — lack of external obligations does not equal inner peace.
Let me ask you:
· Why don’t you work — was it a choice or the result of fear, burnout, or unworthiness?
· Are you financially dependent on someone? And if so, are you happy — or secretly resentful or afraid?
· Is there a dream you’ve buried under perfectionism, fear of failure, or fear of being “too much”?
· Do you carry mother wounds, father wounds, sibling rivalry, or heartbreak?
· Are you holding grief, guilt, or shame over a past abortion or a lost love?
· Are you angry at someone but too proud or afraid to forgive?
If you answered yes to even one… that is your stress. That is the energy behind your hormonal chaos.
Estrogen and progesterone don’t just “drop.” They respond to your emotional and energetic state.
They rise when you feel:
· Loved
· Safe
· Creative
· Supported
· Nourished
· Feminine
They drop when you feel:
· Ashamed
· Alone
· Unseen
· Resentful
· Overwhelmed
· In survival mode
While HRT can offer symptom relief, it’s essential to be aware of potential risks:
· Breast Cancer: The Women’s Health Initiative found increased breast cancer risk with combined estrogen-progestin therapy. Wikipedia Royal Pharmaceutical Society
· Heart Disease and Blood Clots: Studies have linked certain HRT types to higher risks of heart issues and venous thromboembolism. The Times
· Alzheimer’s Disease: Research indicates that HRT initiated after age 60 may accelerate tau protein accumulation, associated with Alzheimer’s. New York Post
If you are seeking a quick fix, willing to outsource your power to a system that profits off your disconnection, then yes — go ahead and sign that contract with the “mad scientist.”
But if you’re ready to reclaim your body, your energy, and your divine feminine wisdom… the healing path is inside you.
Yes, hormone replacement therapy can offer temporary relief. But it doesn’t heal the root wound. It bypasses it with chemicals — and every artificial fix comes with a cost.
You were never meant to suppress symptoms.
You were meant to listen to them.
To understand what your soul is trying to tell you through your body.
Hormonal imbalance is not caused by stress alone.
Stress is just the middle link.
The true root?
A rejection of your femininity.
Of rest. Of slowness. Of softness. Of receptivity.
Of your power to create — not just do.
And this rejection manifests in two main ways:
· Overly masculine women = high cortisol, anxiety, adrenal fatigue
· Overly feminine (wounded) = low mood, apathy, emotional dependency, depression
But both are still rejecting the divine feminine within.
So, sister, mindset does work.
But only when it is a mindset rooted in love. In emotional truth. In spiritual awakening.
Heal your heart, and your hormones will follow.
Forgive your past, and your body will thank you.
Reclaim your femininity, and your essence will rise.
That’s not woo.
That’s biology… in harmony with divinity.
